Description

Prunotto Vigna Colonnello Barolo Bussia DOCG is drawn from a single parcel within Bussia, the sprawling and closely studied cru of Monforte d'Alba.

Bussia climbs the slopes above Monforte on soils of marl and limestone, and Vigna Colonnello occupies a favoured section of Bussia Soprana. Prunotto grew out of an Alba growers' co-operative founded in 1904 and took Alfredo Prunotto's name in 1923; under Beppe Colla from the 1950s it became one of the first Piedmontese houses to bottle individual vineyards under their own names, an approach now standard across the Langhe. The Antinori family has owned the house since the 1990s. Nebbiolo here is given a long maceration on skins and matured in oak, followed by extended ageing in bottle before the wine is released.

A format that slows ageing and suits a wine built for the long term; serve at around 18°C with braised beef, game or truffle dishes.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
