Quealy KK01 Pinot Noir 2021

Quealy KK01 Pinot Noir is a light, carbonic-influenced organic Pinot Noir from Balnarring.

Third vintage of a wine that was never meant to be complicated. Two blocks of 1996 MV6 at the certified organic home vineyard supply it, from the parcel the team call the Carpark Block, next door to the old Seventeen Rows vines. The vines are trained to an arch cane so light reaches the whole canopy, and the site is dry-grown, which concentrates small crops. In the cellar the approach leans carbonic, skin time is short, sulphur additions are minimal, and the only oak used is puncheons five years old or more. The label name is borrowed from an old T'Gallant bottling, a nice piece of nonsense history.

Bright and juicy: red berries, a hint of pomegranate, fine soft tannin and a savoury finish. Serve it cool at 14 degrees. Good with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled tuna, or a bowl of pasta with tomato and basil.
