Description

Quealy Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir is a wild-fermented blend from five estate-farmed vineyards.

Five estate-farmed vineyards go into the 2022, spanning the warm coastal plain at the Campbell and Christine and the cool heights of Main Ridge. All ferments were wild, with ten per cent whole bunches and an average of 25 days on skins, and each batch matured separately in older barrels for twelve months before assembly. It was the second low-yielding season in a row, with crops halved at some sites, but a long warm autumn meant slow, even ripening and small volumes of concentrated, balanced fruit. Parcels are selected here for ripeness and gentle tannin, which is why this is the most generous, earliest-drinking red in the range.

Generous and supple, with ripe red cherry, raspberry and a savoury-sweet spice note over soft tannin. No need to wait. Fifteen to sixteen degrees. Serve with roast duck, pork belly, charcuterie, or a mushroom and leek pie.
