Description
Quealy Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir is a blended Pinot from a short but high-quality season.
Yields were unkind across the Peninsula in 2024, but Tom McCarthy reports near-ideal conditions in the lead-up to and through picking, so what little came in was intensely concentrated. Five estate vineyards contribute, from the Campbell and Christine on the coastal flats to the high block on Main Ridge, all farmed by a team led by viticulturist Will Byles. Ferments were spontaneous, skin contact averaged 25 days, and the batches spent fifteen months in older barrels before assembly. Selection for ripeness and gentle tannin is what keeps this the most generous and early-drinking of the estate's Pinots.
Bright and lifted, with crunchy red fruit, flowers and spice, silky weight and a plush, soft close. Drink it now at 15 to 16 degrees. Roast chicken, duck breast, charcuterie, or grilled mushrooms with garlic butter.
