Quealy Musk Creek Pinot Noir 2025

Quealy Musk Creek Pinot Noir is a single-site Pinot Noir grown on volcanic red soils above Main Ridge.

The soils under this vineyard run from basalt-derived volcanic clay through to alluvial deposits, which is part of why the wine carries such clear site signature even in years when the Peninsula is difficult. Nothing is irrigated, so a wet enough spring matters, and 2025 delivered on that count: a healthy fruit set, water in the ground and a long, unpressured run to ripeness. Hand-picked fruit spent twenty-eight days on skins, then twelve months in French hogsheads with one quarter of the barrels new. Kathleen Quealy and Kevin McCarthy planted these vines in 1997, and the current release is Tom McCarthy at the helm.

A clear, intensely varietal red with fully resolved tannin and the acid retention this site is known for. Fifteen degrees is the mark. Pair it with roast chicken and thyme, a duck ragu, or grilled mushrooms over polenta.
