Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir 2025

Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir is a light-bodied Pinot Noir from organically farmed clone 777 at Merricks North.

After several hard vintages, the Peninsula finally got a normal one in 2025. Fruit set was genuinely healthy, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sitting around two tonnes an acre and Pinot Gris a fraction higher, and a generous growing season put enough water into these dry-grown blocks to set up a long, largely trouble-free ripening period. What came out of it is intense varietal flavour, tannin that developed fully, and strong acid retention, which together point to real site definition. The vines here are clone 777 in volcanic red clay, pruned to a single arched cane and organically farmed.

Cherry and red plum with pepper and forest floor beneath, the tannin ripe and the finish long and clean. Serve at 14 degrees. Roast duck with cherries, mushroom risotto, or a peppered beef fillet would all do it justice.
