Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port 2024

Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port is a fortified red wine from the Douro Valley in Portugal.

Nacional comes from a small block of ungrafted vines at the Noval quinta above Pinhão, still growing on their own roots rather than on American rootstock as nearly all European vineyards do. It is released in very small quantities and only in some years, which is why it is one of the most sought-after names in Port. Like any vintage Port it is fortified mid-fermentation and bottled young.

Expect a dark, sweet, tightly structured Port built for very long cellaring rather than for drinking now. Decant, serve at 16 to 18 degrees, and keep the pours small alongside blue cheese or dark chocolate.
