Quinta do Passadouro Vintage Port 2021

Quinta do Passadouro Vintage Port is a single-quinta port from the Pinhão valley, made since 2019 under Quinta do Noval ownership.

Passadouro dates to the eighteenth century and has long been well regarded for both port and table wine. The property lies in the Cima Corgo sub-region close to the village of Vale de Mendiz, in the heart of the demarcated Douro, and was run from 1991 by the Bohrmann family, who also own a domaine in Meursault; Noval acquired it as its second Portuguese estate in 2019. The blend is Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cao, Sousao and Tinta Roriz, picked across a long harvest from late August into October because the quinta's vines range from 100 to 300 metres in altitude. It is made much as Noval's own Vintage Port is, but the house style here is more medium-bodied and buoyant, and more approachable young. Only 6.5% of the quinta's production went into this wine, bottled with 88 grams per litre of residual sugar.

More forward than most vintage port and drinkable within a few years, though it will reward a decade; decant off the sediment. Serve at 16-18°C with hard cheese, dark chocolate or almonds.
