Radford Dale Syrah 2017

Radford Dale Syrah is an elegant, peppery Stellenbosch Syrah that now has some bottle age.

As the vines behind this wine have matured, the winery has found its Syrah gaining elegance, depth and restraint, with the character of the site showing more clearly each year. It is made in a savoury, spicy style, closer in spirit to the northern Rhône than to a big, ripe Shiraz. Oriental spice and dark fruit lead the nose, and fine black pepper and a hint of soy sit over a dark-fruited core on the palate. A grainy texture gives grip before a fresh finish, and at 13.5% alcohol the wine keeps its poise.

Decant for half an hour and serve at 16 to 18 degrees. It is a fine partner for pepper steak, lamb shoulder or duck with plum sauce.
