Radio-Coteau Anderson Valley Savoy Pinot Noir 2019

Radio-Coteau Anderson Valley Savoy Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Mendocino County's Anderson Valley.

Eric Sussman has worked with this vineyard since Radio-Coteau began, starting with Pinot Noir in 2002, and he has stayed with the same blocks, planted between 1991 and 1996, for almost two decades. A who's who of the north coast draws fruit from here, Littorai and Peay among them. The valley's maritime funnel keeps the growing season long, night-time temperatures can drop as much as 25 degrees, and flavour builds without sugar running away. Each block carries its own clonal selection and is farmed organically to its own needs. Fruit is picked at night and trucked in at dawn to keep the berries whole, fermented with forty-one per cent whole clusters, then raised sixteen months in light to medium-toast, tight-grained barrels.

Dark cherry, cranberry and wild herb over a savoury, forest-floor base, with tannin that is fine and persistent and acidity that keeps it taut. Serve at 15 degrees. Duck, roast pork with fennel, or mushroom pasta will all read well with it.
