Radio-Coteau Sonoma Coast La Neblina Pinot Noir 2020

Radio-Coteau Sonoma Coast La Neblina Pinot Noir is a two-vineyard Pinot Noir from the cool western edge of Sonoma.

La Neblina means the fog, and the name describes the weather these vineyards live by: grey Pacific mornings followed by afternoon sun. The Alberigi Vineyard sits in the heart of the Russian River Valley on the Goldridge loams peculiar to the area, farmed organically, while the balance comes from the estate vineyard only twelve kilometres from the coast. Across the two, a patchwork of clones takes in 777, 115, Mount Eden and Calera. Fermentation ran with twenty-five per cent whole bunches, only free-run juice went to neutral tight-grained barriques and puncheons, and sixteen months of raising followed before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Eric Sussman picked slightly earlier than usual in 2020, which gave a more delicate result.

Crushed red fruit, subtle spice and dried flowers over misty forest-floor savouriness, the tannin sculpted and the freshness snappy. Serve at 15 degrees. Good beside roast chicken and mushrooms, duck breast with cherries, or a plate of jamon and figs.
