Description
Radio-Coteau Sonoma Coast Wingtine Chardonnay is a Chardonnay fermented across concrete egg, steel and neutral oak on the Sonoma Coast.
Hand harvesting came in early September from both sources, the biodynamic estate vineyard and Heintz Ranch just down the road in Occidental. Fruit was pressed as whole bunches and fermented across concrete egg, stainless steel and neutral oak, then given sixteen months on lees without stirring, going through full malolactic conversion before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Heintz is organically farmed with vines past thirty years old and a wide day-to-night temperature range; the estate's SeaBed plot carries Wente clones traceable to Burgundian material imported in 1912. Set beside the Anderson Valley Chardonnay, this is the more mineral and floral of the pair.
Taut and linear, with lemon pith, green apple, white flowers and a stony, saline finish. Serve at 12 degrees, and let it warm slightly in the glass. Match it with oysters, sashimi, grilled prawns, or a goat cheese salad.
