Ravensworth Regional Sangiovese 2025

Ravensworth Regional Sangiovese is a Sangiovese drawn from Hilltops, the Canberra district and the home estate.

Sourcing for this label shifts each year according to which sites are showing best, and this release draws on the Grove and Bit of Heaven vineyards in Hilltops together with Canberra fruit and the estate block, across varied and mostly granite-based duplex soils, planted to the MAT6, MAT7 and VCR23 clones. The season brought good-sized crops, no weather events, a mild summer and an early harvest. The fruit went in as whole berries and stayed on skins for three to four weeks before pressing to mainly seasoned barriques and foudre, where it matured for two years. Bryan Martin was among the first in Australia to take the variety seriously.

Sour cherry, dried herb and a lick of orange peel, with juicy acidity and a mouth-watering bite at the close. Serve at 16 degrees. Very good with a pork and fennel ragu, saltimbocca, or a plate of prosciutto and olives.
