Description

Ravensworth Single Clone Sangiovese MAT7 2025 is a single-clone Sangiovese from the Canberra District in Australia.

MAT7 is a Sangiovese clone taken out of Chianti Classico, valued for deep colour, bright fruit and for performing in cooler sites - which describes the Canberra District, where altitude and cold nights set it apart from most Australian red country. The fruit went in as whole berries to a 1250-litre Nico Velo concrete pyramid, stayed six weeks on skins, then spent twelve months maturing in the same vessel. Concrete throughout means no oak flavour is added.

Expect a dry, red-fruited Sangiovese with cherry and savoury herb, bright acidity and the chalky tannin the grape is known for. Serve at 15 to 17 degrees with tomato-based pasta, pizza, grilled lamb or hard sheep's cheese.
