Recaredo Corpinnat Reserva Particular Brut Nature 2013 Disg. Sept. 2022

Reserva Particular is Recaredo's long-aged Corpinnat sparkling wine, made without dosage and released after more than eight years on lees.

Corpinnat is the mark adopted by a handful of Penedès growers who left Cava to guarantee organic estate fruit, hand harvesting and long lees ageing. Recaredo, based at Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, is among its founders and works all its vineyards biodynamically. Josep Mata Capellades created this cuvée in 1962 to see what long ageing could draw out of Penedès varieties. It is 56 per cent Macabeu and 44 per cent Xarel·lo from the estate's oldest vines, planted between 1950 and 1955 on sloping clay soils that give the wine its breadth. Ageing runs to 100 months on lees before disgorgement, and it is finished brut nature, with no sugar added at all, so the weight comes entirely from time. The result is closer to a mature white wine with bubbles than to a young sparkler.

Ready to drink and best treated as a wine for the table rather than an aperitif. Serve at 8-10°C with roast poultry, aged cheese or grilled seafood.
