Red Claw Heathcote Shiraz comes from central Victoria rather than the Mornington Peninsula.

Heathcote sits on a narrow band of ancient Cambrian greenstone soil, around half a billion years old, which holds water through dry summers and gives Shiraz depth with fine tannin. Yabby Lake's sister property Heathcote Estate works the same ground, with Tom Carson overseeing both. The Red Claw range is made for earlier drinking.

Serve at 17 degrees with barbecued beef, lamb or a rich stew. Drink over the next eight years.
