Reichsrat von Buhl Pfalz Riesling Trocken 2024

Reichsrat von Buhl's Pfalz Riesling Trocken is the estate's dry entry wine, drawn from certified organic vineyards around three of the great villages of the Mittelhaardt.

Von Buhl is one of the historic estates of the Pfalz, and the fruit here comes from sandstone-rich sites around Deidesheim, Forst and Ruppertsberg, all farmed organically. Most of the juice ferments naturally in tank, with some parcels taken through the estate's oval Doppelstück oak casks. Even at this level the wine is given six months on gross lees, there is no pumping, and added sulphur is kept very low. The style is dry in the German sense, close to bone dry on the finish, with the sandstone giving a rocky texture behind citrus-edged acidity and enough palate weight to carry it. It is a sound benchmark for what Pfalz Riesling delivers at everyday prices in the Australian market.

Ready on release and good for five years or so; a natural by-the-glass wine. Serve at 10–12°C with grilled fish, pork belly or Thai salads.
