Robert Weil Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese is the estate's most concentrated sweet Riesling, bottled at 375ml.

Trockenbeerenauslese is the summit of the German Prädikat system and among the rarest wines made anywhere: berries are picked individually once noble rot has shrivelled them almost to raisins, and it takes a very long season and a great deal of labour to gather enough. The source is Gräfenberg, the vineyard that has designated this estate's finest wines since its classification in 1867, where the oldest vines at Kiedrich grow on their own rootstock over loess and loam. Fermentation stops of its own accord at a tiny alcohol level, leaving enormous residual sugar held up by acidity. Wines of this class are effectively immortal in bottle.

Thick, golden and intensely sweet, with dried apricot, quince paste, saffron and honey over an acid line that keeps it from ever cloying. Serve at 10 degrees in a very small glass. Drink it on its own after dinner, or with a simple almond tart or aged Roquefort.
