Robert Weil Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken 2024

Robert Weil Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken is a dry single-vineyard Riesling from the highest of the estate's hillside sites.

Four steep hectares, vines between forty and sixty years old, and an elevation reaching 300 metres make Klosterberg the highest of the three hillside holdings at Kiedrich. Altitude would normally point to the leanest wine of the group, but a southern aspect and deeper, iron-rich weathered slate soils push it the other way: this is the most opulent and seductive of them in its youth. The team at the estate reach for the word baroque when they talk about it, meaning the lift and the generosity. It shares a family likeness with the village wine, with a clear step up in intensity, complexity and drive at the finish.

Generous and aromatic, with yellow peach, mandarin peel and a faintly smoky, slaty undertow, finishing dry and long. Serve at 11 degrees. Roast chicken, pork schnitzel with lemon, or a trout with brown butter will all sit well alongside.
