Description
Weil's Kiedricher is the village-level dry Riesling, blended from the first-picked parcels of the estate's classified hillside sites.
Kiedrich sits above the Rhine in the eastern Rheingau, and the fruit for this wine comes from the estate's classified slopes of Klosterberg, Turmberg and Gräfenberg, together with a measure from Wasseros. Drawing on the first pass through those vineyards gives a wine with the texture and mineral intensity of the hillside without the concentration the estate reserves for its single-site bottlings. It is a clear step up from the entry wine in both power and grip. One-third of the wine is raised for six months in large Stockinger Doppelstückfass, the traditional German wooden cask, which adds breadth without any oak flavour.
Approachable on release and good for five to eight years. Serve at 10–12°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or grilled prawns.
