Roc Breïa Pinot Noir 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Roc Breïa Pinot Noir is a Mâconnais red from vines planted between 1970 and 1985, offered in magnum.

The Mâconnais is far better known for Chardonnay, but it is still Burgundy, and its clay-limestone soils suit Pinot Noir well enough that the variety has quietly persisted in the hills around Vergisson and Solutré. The Roc Breïa Pinot vines are a little younger than the estate's Chardonnay, going into the ground across the 1970s and early 1980s. The wine is vinified with around 50 per cent whole bunches, which gives lift and a finer tannin profile, and matures in used 500-litre barrels so that no new oak intrudes. Dancer makes a rigorous barrel selection before assembling the final blend, discarding anything that does not meet the mark. The result is an elegant, transparent Pinot that makes the case for the variety in this part of Burgundy.

Already drinking well but rewards decanting and plenty of air. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom tart.
