Description
Rocche Costamagna Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a single-vineyard Barolo from the commune of La Morra, made entirely from Nebbiolo.
Rocche dell'Annunziata is counted among the great crus of La Morra, a village known for the most perfumed and graceful style of Barolo. Vines here grow on calcareous clay marl on a sunny slope below the town. One of the oldest names in the village, the estate traces its history to 1841 and remains in the same family, now led by Alessandro Locatelli. His approach is traditional, with a lengthy maceration and maturation in large oak casks, aiming for elegance and fragrance over weight and obvious oak.
Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees after an hour in a decanter. It is a natural partner for tajarin with ragù, roast veal, mushroom dishes, duck or hard cheeses. Approachable in its youth for a Barolo, it will also repay ten to fifteen years of cellaring.
