Rocche Costamagna Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a La Morra cru Barolo, available here in a half bottle.

The vineyard lies just beneath the village of La Morra in the north-west of the Barolo zone, and its marl soils are prized for Nebbiolo with fine tannins and lifted aromatics. The Costamagna family first received permission to sell wine from their La Morra vineyards in 1841, and their descendants still farm the site and make the wine in the village. Nebbiolo is fermented with extended skin contact and then aged in big, neutral oak casks in the classic Piedmontese way, with further time in bottle before release.

Half bottles suit a dinner for two and tend to come around a little sooner than full-size bottles. Let it breathe for 30 minutes, serve at 16 to 18 degrees, and pair it with agnolotti, beef cheek, risotto with porcini or a wedge of aged Toma.
