Rocche Costamagna Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 1.5L MAGNUM is a large-format bottle of Piedmont's great red grape, grown in the hills of La Morra.

La Morra sits high on the western side of the Barolo zone, and its soils are known for giving perfumed, elegant Nebbiolo. This family estate has worked these slopes for generations and is led today by Alessandro Locatelli, whose vineyards include parcels in the famed Rocche dell'Annunziata that gives the winery its name. The Langhe DOC is the estate's earlier-drinking Nebbiolo, keeping the grape's floral lift and fine structure in a softer frame. It pours a deep ruby, with violet, raspberry and wild strawberry, and finishes long, with gentle, harmonious tannins.

At the table, open it about half an hour ahead and pour at 16 to 18 degrees. Braised beef, mushroom risotto, pizza with salumi or a hard pecorino all work well, and the magnum's slower development means it can keep improving for several years.
