Royal Tokaji Wine Company Blue Label Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a classic sweet Tokaji in a small 250ml bottle, ideal for sharing after a meal.

Founded in 1990 in Mád, at the heart of the Tokaj hills, the company was one of the first foreign-backed ventures to help revive the region after decades of state production. For this blend, Aszú berries of good quality and delicate botrytis were macerated in fermenting must for two days, then pressed and allowed to finish fermenting. The young wine was moved into 300 and 500 litre Hungarian oak casks and matured for more than two years in the company's extensive underground cellars, with the final blend assembled in spring 2021. Furmint gives backbone and acidity, Hárslevelű adds a softer, fragrant side and Yellow Muscat brings lift.

Enjoy it lightly chilled as an aperitif, alongside fruit-based desserts or with hard cheeses, or simply serve a glass in place of dessert. It drinks well now and will also reward some time in the cellar.
