Rupert & Rothschild Chardonnay 2023

Rupert & Rothschild Chardonnay is a barrel-fermented Western Cape white from the partnership between South Africa's Rupert family and the Rothschilds of Bordeaux.

The historic Fredericksburg farm sits at the foot of the Simonsberg, between Paarl and Franschhoek, and has been the partnership's base since the late 1990s. Fruit for this white comes from cooler sites, chosen to keep the acidity lively and the finish long. It's barrel fermented and matured in French oak, with Burgundy as the reference for texture and freshness.

Citrus, white peach and toasty oak on a creamy but fresh palate. Serve at 10–12°C and let it warm a little in the glass; try it with roast chicken, grilled crayfish, pork belly or creamy pasta.
