Description
Sailor Seeks Horse Chardonnay Huldufólk is a single vineyard cool-climate Chardonnay from the Huon Valley in southern Tasmania.
Sailor Seeks Horse is the small Huon Valley estate of Paul and Gilli Lipscombe, south of Hobart in one of the coolest grape-growing corners of Australia. The couple planted and farm their own vineyard organically, working by hand on a sloping site above the valley, and make the wines in small batches with a minimal-intervention approach. The long, cool ripening season of southern Tasmania keeps acidity high and alcohol moderate, which suits both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Huldufólk, the Icelandic 'hidden folk', is the estate's single vineyard Chardonnay, fermented and matured in French oak barrels with time on lees and sealed under screwcap.
Taut and mineral with real depth, it suits scallops, crayfish, roast chicken and soft cheeses; serve at around 10 to 12 degrees.
