Description
Sailor Seeks Horse Small Wonder Pinot Noir is the estate's second-label Pinot Noir from the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania, made for earlier drinking.
Small Wonder is the second label of Sailor Seeks Horse, the Huon Valley estate of Paul and Gilli Lipscombe south of Hobart, and is made from fruit grown in the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania. The Tamar is Tasmania's largest wine region, following the river estuary north of Launceston, where the moderating influence of the water and a long, cool ripening season keep acidity high and alcohol moderate. The range is made with the same hands-on, minimal-intervention approach as the estate wines, and is designed to be enjoyed younger than the single vineyard bottlings. The Pinot Noir is fermented in small open vats, matured briefly in older French oak and sealed under screwcap.
Light and juicy, it suits charcuterie, salmon and roast chicken, and takes a light chill; serve at around 14 degrees.
