Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Chardonnay 2025

Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Chardonnay is a savoury, generously textured white from the Southern Valleys of Marlborough.

The Omaka Valley runs south-west of Blenheim, and its heavier clay soils and protected aspect give Chardonnay more weight and structure than the stony Wairau floor. Saint Clair remains owned by the Ibbotson family, who grew grapes in Marlborough for years before making wine themselves. Reserve fruit is handled with care and given time in oak, which layers hazelnut, cream and toasted pastry around ripe stone fruit. The 2025 shows peach, nectarine and lemon rind on a concentrated palate, with sweet oak and a luxurious mouthfeel.

Take it from the fridge 15 minutes before pouring. Pair with pan-fried scallops, roast chicken, veal schnitzel or a creamy pasta, and expect it to reward a few years in the cellar.
