Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir 2023

Saint Clair Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir is a dark-fruited, savoury Pinot Noir from Marlborough's Omaka Valley.

Pinot Noir has found a natural home on the clay soils of Marlborough's southern side valleys, where sheltered slopes give the grape more depth than the open Wairau plains. The Ibbotson family winery, founded in the 1990s after years of growing grapes for others, selects its Reserve Pinot from Omaka vineyards and matures it in oak. The 2023 is deep garnet with black fruit and a hint of flint on the nose, dark cherry, crushed thyme and savoury notes on the palate, and silky tannins leading into a toasty finish.

Serve slightly cool, at around 15 to 17 degrees. Duck breast with cherries, mushroom risotto, lamb rump or seared salmon all pair well, and it will cellar comfortably for several years.
