Saint Clair Pioneer Block 15 Strip Block Pinot Noir 2020

Saint Clair Pioneer Block 15 Strip Block Pinot Noir is a dark, savoury single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Marlborough, now with some bottle age.

The Strip Block is one of the sites in the Pioneer Block range, which bottles individual Marlborough vineyards separately to show their different personalities. The family-run winery handles each parcel on its own and matures the wine in oak for added texture and spice. From the 2020 vintage, it has had time to settle, with a bright ruby core, dark fruit, coffee and spice aromas, black cherry and a touch of black olive brine on the palate, and a silky texture ending in toasted oak.

Decant briefly and serve at 16 to 17 degrees. It stands up well to rare beef, venison sausages, braised lamb shanks or aged gouda.
