Salomon Riesling vom Kögl Feingebrannter 350ml NV

Salomon Riesling vom Kögl Feingebrannter is an Austrian eau de vie distilled from Riesling grown on the Kögl site in the Kremstal.

The Salomon family have made wine at Krems-Stein on the Danube since the eighteenth century, working steep terraced sites on primary rock and loess in the Kremstal, a cool region where Riesling ripens slowly and holds its acidity. Kögl is one of the estate's Riesling parcels. A Feingebrannter, literally a finely distilled spirit, is made from the fermented grapes themselves rather than from pressed pomace, so it carries the citrus and stone-fruit character of the variety instead of the earthier tone of a marc. The spirit is distilled to preserve that aromatic detail and bottled clear at 42% alcohol under a glass closure in a 350 mL bottle.

Serve well chilled in a small tulip glass as a digestif, or after a fruit dessert; it is dry despite the perfume.
