Shaw + Smith Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz 2023

Shaw + Smith Balhannah Vineyard Shiraz is a single-vineyard Adelaide Hills red from a site planted in 1999.

Balhannah lies in the Onkaparinga Valley at around 400 metres, warmer than the winery's Lenswood holdings but still cool by Australian standards, which gives Shiraz a peppery, medium-weight character closer to the northern Rhône than to the Barossa. Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith MW founded the venture in 1989. The fruit is fermented with a portion of whole bunches and matured in French oak.

Serve at 16 degrees with lamb, duck or roasted capsicum. It will develop over ten years.
