Sidewood Mappinga Chardonnay 2024

Sidewood Mappinga Chardonnay is a powerful, tightly structured Adelaide Hills white from Sidewood's top tier.

Mappinga sits at the top of the Sidewood range, reserved for the best parcels from the family's Adelaide Hills vineyards. This Chardonnay is built for the long haul: fruit from cool sites delivers white peach, nectarine and grapefruit, while barrel work adds grilled hazelnut and fine oak tannin. A slaty, mineral-driven acidity keeps everything tight and racy, and a finger-lime note brightens the finish. It's a serious Hills Chardonnay in the modern mould, with power held in check by freshness, and it has the structure to reward time in the cellar.

Open it at around 12 degrees, a little warmer than fridge-cold, so the complexity can show. Roast chicken, crayfish or veal with a creamy mushroom sauce all suit. Cellar with confidence for several years.
