Spinifex Moppa Shiraz 2022

Spinifex Moppa Shiraz is a highland Barossa Shiraz from an organically farmed old vineyard.

The vineyard occupies high ground in the north-west of the Barossa Valley and has supplied Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro to this cellar since 2005. Its exact age is unknown; eighty years is the conservative estimate. For the past forty of those, organic farming has been in the hands of a grower raised on the block, and it shows in the fruit. Around 30 per cent whole bunches went into the 2022, adding spice, and extended maturation in French puncheons and barriques has produced long, pliant tannin to frame the black fruit. Tamed Barossa power: pure, juicy black fruit, warm spice and a savoury finish that runs on, with refined structure and acidity keeping it fresh. Serve at 17 degrees. Roast beef, barbecued lamb, or a beef and stout pie.
