Stanton & Killeen Classic Muscat 500ml NV

Stanton & Killeen Classic Muscat is a rich, sweet Rutherglen fortified with more age and depth than the entry level.

Red-skinned Muscat à Petits Grains is left to raisin on the vine through the warm autumn, then its juice is fortified with neutral grape spirit while still sweet. Years in old oak casks, often in hot sheds, concentrate it. Rutherglen grades these wines in four tiers, and this one sits a step above the first, drawing on older blended stocks from a solera-style system. The family has been in the district since the 1870s.

Raisin, toffee and spice, luscious and layered. A 60ml pour at 14–16°C goes well with blue cheese, sticky date pudding, chocolate or coffee, and an open bottle keeps for several weeks.
