Stanton & Killeen Classic Topaque 500ml NV

Stanton & Killeen Classic Topaque is a rich, sweet Rutherglen fortified made from Muscadelle, with more age than the entry wines.

Formerly known as Rutherglen Tokay, the style starts with Muscadelle left to ripen late in the warm autumn. The sweet juice is fortified with neutral grape spirit, and long ageing in old oak casks concentrates it and brings malt, tea-leaf and butterscotch notes. This level, one up from the bottom of the four, blends older material from the family's aged stocks while keeping the finish fresh.

Silky and rich, all butterscotch, malt and cold tea. Pour 60ml at 14–16°C with hard cheeses, crème brûlée, a nut tart or after-dinner coffee. Opened bottles keep well for several weeks.
