Description

Stanton & Killeen Tempranillo is a savoury, medium-bodied Rutherglen red made from the Spanish grape.

Iberian grapes were first planted here for vintage fortifieds, and the family now turns them into table wines as well. This variety, the great grape of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, copes well with Rutherglen's warmth, holding onto savoury character and fine tannin. Oak plays a supporting role.

Cherry-toned and fine-grained, and flexible with food. Serve it a touch cooler than most reds, 15–17°C, with jamón, chorizo, paella or slow-cooked lamb with paprika.
