Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified 1.5L MAGNUM 1994

Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified 1.5L MAGNUM comes from one Rutherglen harvest, bottled young and then left alone for three decades.

Shiraz with a little Touriga Nacional was fermented on skins and fortified part-way through to hold its sweetness, then given time in wood before bottling. Large format slows the whole process further, and magnums of this age come out of the cellar in tiny numbers.

Black fruit, anise, liqueur chocolate and walnut run across a smooth, lightly sweet palate. Serve at 16°C after dinner with hard cheese or on its own; once opened, a bottle keeps happily for weeks.
