Description

Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified is a Rutherglen take on vintage port, a sweet, structured fortified red in magnum.

The Douro's vintage ports are the model here, and the family has long been one of the style's champions in Australia. Everything comes from one harvest, mostly Portuguese grapes like Touriga Nacional plus Durif and Shiraz. After a brief ferment on skins it is fortified to keep sweetness, spends a short spell in older oak, then ages in bottle.

Magnums are made for a crowd or for the cellar, where this will age more slowly than a standard bottle. Decant, pour at 16–18°C and bring out Stilton, aged cheddar or Christmas cake.
