Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified 1995

Stanton & Killeen Vintage Fortified is a Rutherglen take on vintage port, here a mature, bottle-aged release.

Touriga Nacional and other Portuguese varieties, with some Durif and Shiraz, make up this single-harvest wine. It is fermented only briefly on skins, fortified with grape spirit and given a short time in older oak, so most of its development happens in bottle. Older releases like this one show what those years bring.

Bottle age has softened the tannins and added savoury depth. Stand the bottle upright beforehand, decant off the sediment and serve 60 ml glasses at 16–18°C with Stilton or walnuts.
