Sweetdram Smoked Spiced Rum

Sweetdram Smoked Spiced Rum is a dry, botanical spiced rum made in Edinburgh.

The base is a proprietary blend of Guyanese, Jamaican and Barbadian rums, chosen for structure as much as flavour. Into that go grains of paradise, chamomile, lime leaf, fennel and cardamom, with the smoke coming from lapsang tea and organic figs, both warm-smoked over oak on site. What is missing matters just as much: no artificial flavouring and no added sugar, which is close to unheard of in the spiced rum aisle. The Edinburgh team behind it made their name with Escubac and now work from their own premises in the city.

Dry and savoury, with woodsmoke, dried fig, citrus leaf and warm spice, and none of the vanilla syrup sweetness the category usually trades on. It is a mixing spirit first: try it with ginger beer and lime, in a daiquiri, or in an old fashioned with a lemon twist.
