Swinney Mourvedre Rosé 2025

Swinney Mourvèdre Rosé is a dry Frankland River rosé grown from vines managed specifically for it.

Nothing here is a by-product: the vines are tended with this wine as the goal, the way the better rosé producers of southern France work. Mourvèdre makes up the bulk of the blend at 86 per cent, with Vermentino for a racy acid streak and a little Grenache or Cinsault for cherry-fruited flesh. Most of the fruit comes off dry-grown bush vines up on the ironstone gravel crown of Powderbark Vineyard, picked on the cusp of full maturity to hold freshness. The Mourvèdre was pressed as whole bunches on an ultra-light Champagne cycle, and the juice ran straight to seasoned French barriques for fermentation with indigenous yeast.

Beautifully perfumed, with a creamy texture and a tight grip that keeps it serious. Dry, structured, savoury. Serve at 9 to 10 degrees and treat it as a white wine at the table: roast chicken, bouillabaisse, or grilled prawns with garlic.
