Description

Tar & Roses Heathcote Sangiovese is a Tuscan variety grown on central Victoria's ancient red soils.

Sangiovese needs a long season to ripen its tannins and gives sour cherry fruit with firm acidity, which makes it a food wine above all. Heathcote's Cambrian greenstone soils and warm, dry summers suit it well. The winery was founded by Don Lewis and Narelle King specifically to work with Italian varieties in Victoria. Maturation is in large oak rather than small barrels.

Serve at 16 degrees with pasta, grilled meats or pizza. Drink over the next six years.
