Tar & Roses 'The Fog' Nebbiolo 2024

Tar & Roses The Fog is a Heathcote Nebbiolo, named for the mist that gives the variety its Italian name.

Nebbiolo takes its name from nebbia, the fog that settles over the Langhe hills at harvest. Growing it outside Piedmont is difficult: it ripens late, demands a long season and produces firm tannin. Heathcote's warm days and cool nights on ancient greenstone soils give it a chance. The wine is macerated on skins for an extended period and matured in large oak.

Decant and serve at 17 degrees with braised beef, mushroom risotto or hard cheese. It develops over a decade.
