TarraWarra Estate Swallowfield Vineyard Chardonnay 2024

TarraWarra Estate Swallowfield Vineyard Chardonnay is an intense, savoury single-vineyard Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley.

Swallowfield is one of the individual sites TarraWarra bottles separately, letting the character of a single Yarra Valley vineyard come through. Where its Southern Slope sibling leans towards citrus, this wine is savoury and concentrated, with grilled nuts, saline notes and a touch of gun smoke adding tension and complexity. Roasted hazelnut and almond praline anchor the palate, while a thread of saline minerality drives purity and precision. Wet stone and crushed chalk add texture through the mid-palate and linger well into the finish.

Serve at 10 to 12 degrees in a good white wine glass. It will match richer seafood such as lobster or scallops in brown butter, as well as roast pork, and should develop well for several years.
