Description
Description
Te Mata Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a Hawke's Bay take on the variety, drier and less overt than Marlborough's.
Hawke's Bay is warmer than Marlborough and its Sauvignon Blanc shows it: stone fruit and citrus rather than passionfruit and cut grass, with more palate weight and less aromatic push. Te Mata, founded in 1896, is the oldest continuously operating winery in New Zealand, based at Havelock North on the Havelock Hills and run by the Buck family since 1974. The fruit is pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel, with a portion left on lees for texture, and bottled without oak.
Serve at 8 to 10 degrees with fish, shellfish, asparagus or goat's cheese. Drink within two years.
