Te Mata Estate Vineyards Syrah 2024

Te Mata Estate Vineyards Syrah is the winery's regional expression of the variety it helped introduce to Hawke's Bay.

Te Mata planted Syrah in the late 1980s when the variety was almost unknown in New Zealand, and Hawke's Bay is now its main home in the country. The wines are peppery and medium-bodied, made from fruit grown on the warm gravel soils of the Bridge Pa Triangle and around Havelock North. This bottling blends across those sites, uses whole bunches in the ferment and sees French oak, largely seasoned.

Serve at 16 degrees with lamb, charcuterie or roast vegetables. Drink over the next eight years.
