Description
Tenuta di Biserno 'Biserno' is the flagship red of Lodovico Antinori's estate in the hills behind Bibbona, on the Tuscan coast.
Biserno sits inland from Bolgheri, in the Alta Maremma near Bibbona, on hillside ground of clay, sand and stone that Lodovico Antinori, the founder of Ornellaia, took on with his brother Piero in the early 2000s. This coastal strip of Tuscany has no long vinous history; it was pasture, scrub and pine forest until the second half of the twentieth century, when Cabernet and Merlot planted near the sea showed what the maritime climate and the breezes off the Tyrrhenian could do. Biserno is Bordeaux in composition, led by Cabernet Franc with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and matured in French oak barriques.
Decant it and serve at around 18 degrees with roast beef, lamb or game. It has the structure for fifteen years or more in a good cellar.
