Description
Terroir al Límit Priorat Arbossar is a hundred-year-old Cariñena vineyard planted, unusually for Priorat, on north-facing slopes.
Arbossar is a steep 1.6-hectare vineyard of Cariñena more than a century old, rooted in schist and granite close to Torroja, where the Terroir al Límit cellars stand. Against conventional local wisdom it faces north, into the cooler side of the hill, and the estate classifies it as a Vi de Coster, the equivalent of premier cru. Dominik Huber bought the site in 2005 and it shaped much of his early understanding of Priorat. Luis Gutiérrez describes it as always fresher and more floral than Dits del Terra, the corresponding south-facing wine, and it is picked earlier. Both are made the same way: 100 per cent whole-bunch vinification with wild yeasts and sixteen months of élevage entirely in concrete, with no oak at any point. Huber calls it a wine with a French soul, a German head and a Spanish heart.
Approachable at five years and good for fifteen, it works with roast lamb, wild mushrooms and grilled aubergine. Serve at 16°C.
